Economic (Employment) Reports:
The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor is the principal Federal agency responsible for measuring labor market activity, working conditions, and price changes in the economy. Its mission is to collect, analyze, and disseminate essential economic information to support public and private decision-making. On the first Friday of each month the BLS releases its Employment Situation Summary (or Labor Report), which addresses employment in the United States using two surveys, the “establishment survey” (sampling 400,000 businesses) and “household survey” (measuring 60,000 households). While the Labor Report is the most closely watched economic report, the BLS also provides a treasure trove of additional reports on Inflation & Prices, Pay & Benefits, Productivity and International Comparisons.
The ADP National Employment Report is released on the Wednesday prior to the BLS Labor report and is a measure of 500,000 U.S. business clients. The ADP Small Business Report® is a subset of the ADP National Employment Report, and is a monthly estimate of private employment among small companies in the United States with 1-49 employees.
The Intuit Small Business Employment Index is based on aggregate and anonymous online employment data from approximately 60,000 small business employers who use Intuit Online Payroll, each with fewer than 20 employees.
